Janice and Henry have owned dogs together for the past 15 years.  They originally had 2 rescue lab mix breeds that they adored for almost 9 years.  Before they lost their last mix breed Janice decided that she would like a purebred black Labrador Retriever.

They spend their weekends and money attending local shows throughout the Maritimes and venture to other provinces and the United States during the summer months.  Janice has trained and competed with dogs in flyball, agility and field work and attained her first WC thispast August.  Henry does most of the handling these days and has titled all the dogs to date.  They have earned numerous Group placements, Puppy Group placements, several Best Puppy in Specialty wins and three Reserve Best in Show wins with their dogs.  They are still waiting for the Best in Show ribbon and believe it is just around the corner!!!  They now breed under the prefix Madabout Labs and the name says it all. 

Janice is very active with St. John’s Ambulance through the Therapy Dog Program as a volunteer visiting with Wishbone (one of many of their dogs evaluated for the program).  She is also the Dartmouth Coordinator and a Program Evaluator.  Both Henry and Janice are members of the Atlantic Labrador Retriever Club (ALRC), the Labrador Retriever Club of Canada (LRCC), Labrador Owners Club (LOC), Eastern Flyway Hunt & Retrieving Club and the Halifax Kennel Club (HKC).

While Henry loves to be in the show ring with the dogs, Janice prefers the country setting and enjoys the dogs at home – in the house, on the couch and in the lake!!
