Valerie Brideau - sbmprodos.orgValerie Brideau has been dedicated to the responsible promotion and the protection of the purebred dog since she met a Doberman Pinscher in the late 1960s at a political rally.  It was love and respect at first sight. Five minutes after purchasing her first home in 1975, the Doberman joined her life and has always held a special place in her heart as a family companion.

Since the 70s, the Brussels Griffon, Japanese Chin, Tibetan Spaniel and the Pekingese have been of part of Valerie's life.  She has been involved in foster, rescue, and rehabilitation of neglected and abused dogs.  Heading back in the ring again, she has recently added a lovely tri American Cocker Spaniel named "Arnie" for the Ambassador of Golf - Arnold Palmer - Shadyhill's Arnie's Army.  While her breeding programs have always been small, the study of her favourite breeds has been extensive.  She treasures having one of the most complete libraries on the Pekingese.

Community Involvement:

Valerie is proud to serve as the Webmaster of the Halifax Kennel Club and her work can be seen on many purebred dog sites internationally.  She is a Member of the Canadian Kennel Club, the National Pekingese Club of Canada, the Canine Association of Nova Scotia and numerous professional organizations.  She also moderates breed and show mailing lists, regionally the Maritime Show Dog list.

Small Business Owner:

Valerie owns three businesses dedicated to the dog community: sbmprodos.org (webdesign); Loving Kindness Pet Bereavement ; and We're Getting a Dog!!! (consultation for dog owners or soon to be owners).  Although Valerie loves EVERYTHING canine, her focus is on the purebred dog world, a this is her area of expertise acknowledging that the mixed and random-bred dogs have their champions in the shelter community.

In 2010, the series of "We're Getting a Dog!!!" Hands On | Interact Workshops was created in order to responsibly promote purebred dogs and their dedicated breeders and fanciers.  Breed Presentations, Demonstrations, and Discussions with top Breeders and Fanciers.
